本日は、「コーヒー大好きMarshalのおすすめカフェ」をご紹介致します。

コーヒーと日本のレトロなカフェが大好きで、毎週のようにカフェに行っているMarshal。昨年秋と今年夏にもお気に入りカフェをこちらのブログで紹介してくれましたが、生徒様からご好評をいただきましたので、第3弾として、最近のおすすめカフェをご紹介致します。ぜひリーディングの練習に挑戦してみてください😊。

☕️ Beans Garage Coffee
🚃 渋谷駅徒歩15分

This place was much more modern compared to the usual Showa style cafes I like to visit. Although it’s a long walk from Shibuya station, it’s a pleasant walk through quiet neighborhood streets. It’s a trendy-looking cafe that’s proud of their Instagram-worthy sandwhiches. Although, when I went there, I was only in the mood for dessert. I ordered their affogato, which was delicious and surprisingly large. The menu isn’t the only interesting thing here, however. The cafe has two sections, a large main area with bar seating, and a private room upstairs. I was lucky enough to be able to sit in the private room, and have the staff bring my order up to me. This room has a TV, Nintendo Switch, a large table, and several cool decorations. I felt pretty special being able to sit up there, and that’s what I remember the most about this place. The rest of their food looked really good too, so I’d love to go back and try some more one day.

本日は、Caileeからのお別れメッセージを載せさせていただきます。

明るく元気で皆様から愛されていたCaileeですが、非常に残念ながら、12/3(日)でNOVA最終日となります。川崎校への最終出勤は11/30(木)です。まもなくお別れなんて寂しさいっぱいですが、Caileeの新しい人生のスタートを応援したいですね✨💐💐。Caileeが長文のお別れのメッセージを残してくれましたので、本人もとても思い入れがあるようで、とっても長いメッセージになっておりますが、ぜひご覧になってください😂。ぜひ最後にレッスン取ってあげてくださいね！

To The Students I Taught in Kawasaki,

Thank you all for your time and dedication to learning English in my class. It was a wonderful experience teaching you all and I’m so happy to see your growth and progress throughout my time at NOVA. Since the beginning, I felt excited and nervous when meeting everyone for the first time. I wanted to be a good teacher and to create a good relationship with my students. I wanted to make sure everyone understood what they learned and could use outside of the classroom too. However, just like my students, I grew as an English teacher when it came to everyone’s individual needs and goals when learning the language. I realized every student’s learning style is different and I managed to learn from each style accordingly. More than just teaching, I am so happy to get to know everyone on a personal level as well. I always appreciate it when my students talk about their days, their goals, their families, and their work. It makes me so happy to hear about my students’ lives because I feel honored to be a part of it, even if it’s just through speaking English. No matter the day I work, branch I go to, or time I have a lesson, all of my students bring a smile on my face when we talk for a little bit before our English lesson.

I always want to say to all my students: thank you for inspiring me to continue studying Japanese. Even though I have been studying for 7-months, I feel like watching my students progress their English language ability always inspires me to improve my Japanese language ability. Learning a new language is not easy, and everyone learns differently, but it makes me incredibly happy and inspired when I see my students trying their best to speak another language. I hope to speak more Japanese in the future, as some of my students hope to speak more English in the future as well.

Once again, I want to say thank you to all my students who made my time at NOVA so memorable. I always appreciate the times my students gave me advice about places to visit in Japan, offered me little gifts, recommended movies or TV shows to help me with my Japanese, and asked about my life in Japan and my family back in America. Thank you for the free talks, the questions, the times my students did their homework assignments, and the games I would play with my younger students. I wish nothing but the best on your English learning journey. Please remember to keep practicing as much as you can by using English in your everyday life and watch the American movies and TV shows I recommended during our class!

Thank you everyone who made my time at NOVA amazing! I’m so happy to have taught you!

昨日のブログに引き続き、本日もShaneが今年の思い出をブログに書いてくれたのでご紹介致します。中国に住んでいるお兄さんが夏に日本に来て、一緒に行った旅行が楽しかったようです。少しずつご紹介してまいりましたが、本日最終回です！

🚃Shaneの今年の思い出④🚃
I’m glad that we ultimately settled on Kanazawa. We had the best time, and it was definitely the highlight of our summer. The garden, called “Kenrokuen” in Japanese, was stunningly beautiful and we spent over 2 hours wondering around and could easily have spent more. Kanazawa castle was great too, as was the weather that day luckily. What I really enjoyed about our trip to Kanazawa though was the fresh seafood that we were able to eat there! I am by no means a sushi aficionado, but the sushi there was easily the best I’ve eaten in my 5 years in Japan! The seafood market, which was located only a 5 minute walk from our hotel had the most delectable raw seafood rice bowl ever and the sushi restaurants dotted around the (somewhat small) city were that much better than the ones here in Tokyo!

The main event, so to speak, of our vacation together was the trip to Kanazawa city in Ishikawa Prefecture. Many people may be wondering why we chose Kanazawa over more obvious choices like Kyoto, Nara or Hokkaido. The truth is, our first choice was Kyoto and Osaka, but we had already been there before, and my girlfriend had never been to Kanazawa – one of the few places in Japan she hadn’t been to. My brother was also interested in checking out the famous garden and castle that Kanazawa is known for.

🚃Shaneの今年の思い出②🚃
The next few days were spent going around some of the more famous and lively areas in Tokyo. Although it wasn’t his first visit, my brother still enjoyed seeing places like Tokyo Skytree, Shibuya Scramble and Asakusa again. My idea of a good time would be spent in a pub (izakaya) or beer garden, soaking in the atmosphere while chatting to some friends or family members over a few beers. But, recently my brother refrains from drinking – he also is not a fan of shopping at all – so a lot of walking, photo taking, and eating is what our time in Tokyo consisted of. It was great for me to see some of these places that I hadn’t seen in a long time and I had great fun introducing my brother to some of my favorite Japanese dishes and restaurants – such as Chicken Ramen in Roppongi, Gyukatsu in Akihabara and Nagano style Soba with walnut dipping sauce in Omotesando.

🚃Shaneの今年の思い出①🚃
This summer my brother visited from China. It was the first time that I had seen my brother in 3 years, but it was his second time in Japan in 4 years. Because it was his second time, I was worried about what to do with him around Tokyo – I was worried that he had already seen most of the exciting stuff here. He stayed for 12 days and I had most of that time off with him. We decided not to plan too much for the first week of his stay and to just “go with the flow”, but an exciting trip to Kanazawa was planned during the final week of his stay!

He arrived late in the evening at Narita airport – It was around nine-thirty pm if I remember correctly. I trusted him to make his way to Shinagawa station by himself, where I met him, as the trip to Narita airport is too expensive and time-consuming! We initially had decided to find food around Shinagawa station, but it was very busy and noisy, so we decided to head back to my apartment area, which is a lot quieter and where there are much less people. By that time it was quite late, and nothing was open but an Izakaya that is very close to my apartment. We had yakitori, fried chicken and french fries. My brother wanted rice, but oddly enough they didn’t have rice when we asked. Perhaps they had ran out of rice by that time? Or, they don’t have white rice on the menu?… what is usual for an Izakaya like this, I don’t know. After we had eaten it was already late and my brother was understandably very tired, so we just went back home to sleep.
