What surprised me when moving to Japan.
When I first decided to move to Japan from Mississippi, I anticipated a certain level of cultural and social difference. What I wasn’t anticipating was the degree to which those differences exist. Here Ill share a few examples:
— One of the biggest differences I noticed was the absence of tipping in Japanese restaurants and services. In America this is utterly unfathomable, tipping is all but mandatory of a practice for one eating out at any restaurant. Here its nowhere to be found.
— The Japanese public transit system is a sprawling maze that’s easy to get lost in, but it is still somehow an incredibly efficient and reliable form of travel. Back home in Mississippi, public transit virtually does not exist. Here you virtually have to learn to navigate it to get around anywhere.

さすが、日本に来る前に事前に文化の違いを調べてきていたとのことでしたが、一番驚いたのが、『チップ』の文化だったようですね🧐
確かに日本でチップを払う事はないです😳
