秋と言ったら…『読書の秋』ということで、
焼津校でも人気のTyson先生に好きな本について聞いてみました！

I have two kinds of books I like:
1) Adventure books
2) Bestiaries

An adventure book is a book in which your decisions directly affect the story. Think of a table top RPG but in book form, at the bottom of each page there are two decisions and each choice has a page number next to it and in order to advance the story the reader must make the correct choices to finish the book.  For example your main character could be walking down a road and then the road splits and at the bottom of the page it could say “choose left-page 5, choose right-page 26” once you choose simply turn to your page to see if you made the correct choice.

A bestiary is a book which has information on various real life or fictional animals.  The word bestiary is a fusion of the words beast and diary.  A fictional bestiary could give the reader information on monsters, ghosts, fairies, demons etc. basically anything from a myth or legend.  However a non-fiction bestiary is the opposite and gives information on real animals from the past and present, such as dinosaurs, ancient sea creatures, prehistoric animals etc. basically any animal for which there is undeniable evidence for.

イギリスには敬老の日は無いとのこと😲
ただ、100歳・105歳以降に女王陛下より祝電が届くそうです🌼

9月の第2日曜日に『National Grandparents’ Day（祖父母の日）』という日があるようです。
グリーティングカードやお花を贈る日だそうで、日本の敬老の日に近いですね🎵

⭐オーストラリア
10月最終日曜日に『Grandparents’ Day』というものがあります。
2011年にニューサウスウェールズ州から始まりました。
まだ新しい習慣のようですね😄

I hope that you’re all doing well, and that you’re all enjoying the cooler weather now that we’re in September.

Speaking of September, this year the English Premier League (England’s highest soccer league) started in September.⚽
(By the way, in the UK, we usually say  “football”, rather than “soccer”.)

Usually, the Premier League (along with many other European leagues) starts in August, with the first games of each new season regularly being played on hot, sunny days.

Each season then reaches a finale in May of the following year, with the finals of cup competitions (such as the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League) being played.
In some years, football returns in June in the form of international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship (although, this year, Euro 2020 couldn’t be played).

However, because the 2019-2020 Premier League season finished in July this year, the start of the 2020-2021 season was put back to September.

I’ve been hiking in many beautiful mountains and skied in Nagano.
The beautiful shrines and temples also amazed me in the fall with the red maple leaves.🍁

Hello! My name is Dara and I’m from Limerick, Ireland.
My hobbies are hiking, watching movies and traveling.🐾
In my free time I like to experience new things, such as visiting new places and cooking new recipes.🍳

I came to Japan last year to see the Rugby World Cap but also to eat Japanese food and experience the culture.🏉
I have really come to love ramen and I don’t know how I will do without it when I leave!🍜

I have always wanted to be a teacher but I studied Accounting and Finance at university.📖
After two years working in an office in front of a computer I quit to become an English teacher and travel the world!🌏

There are so many places I would like to visit in Japan but right now it’s a little tricky.🙊⚡
I really enjoy living in Shizuoka however as it’s much calmer than the bigger cities and it has such beautiful scenery.🗻

👧Hello! Thanks for letting me interview you, I hope you’ve been enjoying your first Japanese summer so far. First, please tell us a little about yourself.

👦Kia ora(hello), my name is Isaiah and I`m from Wellington, New Zealand.
I moved to Hamamatsu in November 2019 which was my third trip to Japan.
My hobbies are playing basketball, photography and travelling.
In my free time I like to experience new things such as going to new restaurants and visiting different attractions.

What brought you here? Have you found anything interesting since you have been here?
（なぜ日本に来たのですか？日本に来てから何か興味深いものを見つけましたか？）

👦I first came to Japan in 2010 for a two week holiday and loved it here.
I said to myself that one day in the future I will move here, and in 2019 it was good timing for me and I finally made the move.
The things I love most about Japan are the people and learning about its rich culture.
Have I found anything interesting since I`ve been here? Yes definitely!
At the end of 2019 I was able to help coach a high school basketball team for a day and see the difference between school sports in Japan versus NZ.
I also got to experience Hatsumoude（初詣）which was an amazing way to start 2020.

👧Cool! Sounds like you have been having fun here.
I want to hear more details about your answers but let’s move on to next question.
What made you want to become a teacher?
（どうして先生になりたかったのですか？）

👦In NZ I had two favorite teachers who put 100% of their effort into teaching me and helping me grow.
They were amazing because they were patient with me and created a comfortable place to learn while also making it fun.
I think it`s important for students to have a teacher who they can trust and who will try their hardest, and I hope that one day I can be someone else’s favorite teacher.

👧That sounds awesome. Okay, last question.
What do you want to do while you are here in Japan?
（日本にいる間にやってみたいことは何ですか？）

👦The two places I really want to go are Okinawa and Hokkaido.
At the moment it`s pretty difficult to travel because of Covid-19 but I am hoping in the future when it settles down, I can go.
In the meantime, I want to make the most of Shizuoka and will try and visit new places that are close to home.
If you have any recommendations, let me know😊
