NOVAでは、海外の文化に触れていただく体験の一環として、毎年10月はKIDSレッスンでハロウィンのアクティビティを行っております。本日は、KIDSクラスのみんなが塗り絵してくれたハロウィンカードをご紹介致します🎃✨✨。これから、もっとたくさんカードが増えていく予定なのでぜひお楽しみに！

At this point, you might be asking- what else can peanut butter be used for? There’s plenty! Peanut butter cookies are an American classic, and I recommend to look up recipes from the US to try them out. Be warned that they call for a lot of peanut butter. There’s also no-bake peanut butter cookies, which you don’t need an oven for at all! These are chocolate and peanut butter mixed with quick-cooking oats, and after you mix the ingredients from a recipe in a pot, you simply pour them into small blobs and wait for them to cool. Peanut butter fudge is an indulgence for those looking for a very sweet and rich dessert, or even peanut butter ice cream, peanut butter pies, or being lazy and dipping a spoonful of peanut butter into some chocolate before eating the whole thing. The possibilities are endless.
I’m now very hungry as I write this, but I hope that you are inspired to at least try some American peanut butter. It’s such a household staple for my family that we often buy more than a mere 40 ounces. For anyone who already knows the joys of peanut butter, I hope you do not repeat my mistakes and buy a peanut cream sandwich looking to fill the hole in your heart and stomach. I’m still disappointed months later.
And for anyone who also loves food and wants to talk about food from other countries, come down to Nova! I’m sure plenty of other English teachers miss something that is difficult or expensive to taste again, and they’d love to share that food with you.

The peanut butter banana sandwich begins with spreading peanut butter on a slice of bread, of course. Be generous with the peanut butter. Tell yourself it’s full of protein and healthy fats, and pretend it isn’t also full of sodium and cost a thousand yen for a tiny jar. Once you have a thick layer on your bread slice, start on the banana. You can use the same knife you spread the peanut butter with, it’s very efficient. Using about half of the banana, dot the sliced bread with banana slices by pushing them slightly into the peanut butter layer. They’ll stick just fine. After this, you have a choice: to chocolate, or not to chocolate? A great way to make a treat of this sandwich is to add chocolate chips to the sandwich at this point. Just sprinkle them onto the peanut butter between the banana slices. Add another slice of bread on top, and you’re technically finished. This is already a fantastic sandwich; peanut butter and bananas are a match made in heaven. However, I like to do one more step. If you have a waffle maker, you should try it as well. Spray the inside of the machine with cooking spray, or lightly oil it. Once you warmed it up, place the sandwich inside and press just hard enough to squish the bread slices together. Cook for only 30 to 60 seconds, as it burns quickly! Remove your sandwich and put it onto a place.
At this point, you now have the perfect sandwich. It’s lightly-toasted on the outside, but sweet and savory and gooey on the inside. If you added chocolate chips, then it’s better than perfection. The chocolate has melted into the peanut butter and added both extra sweetness and a hint of bitter cocoa. Using the knife you used for both the banana and the peanut butter (it’s efficient!) cut the sandwich into two triangle halves. Please enjoy this sandwich with the love it deserves.

The peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a household staple in America. It’s the ultimate lunch sandwich. It’s perfect harmony of sweet and savory. My mom used to cut my sandwich into heart shapes before packing it, and it made other kids gasp in awe. Now, keep in mind, I am talking about jelly, not jam. The sweet, smooth jelly made from fruit juice. My personal preference was grape jelly, but strawberry jelly is also very popular in America. Grape jelly and smooth peanut butter, or chunky if you like, are spread on one slice of bread each. Mush those two halves together, and you have a classic American lunch. Add in an apple sauce cup and some potato chips, then put it all in a brown paper bag for the full experience.
Of course, this isn’t the only possible sandwich with peanut butter. Plain peanut butter sandwiches are also very popular. Peanut butter and potato chips are something you might never have imagined, but it’s delicious! But another favorite of mine is the peanut butter and banana sandwich. I have a favorite method that I’d like to share with you, too. Pick up some of that expensive (creamy) peanut butter, a banana, bread, and maybe some chocolate chips (not potato chips, chocolate chips for baking!) as well. You should only need a butter knife (peanut butter is very thick) but a waffle maker could be useful as well.

I didn’t realize how important peanut butter was to my family until I moved to Japan.
Be careful, I’m not referring to the common substitute for peanut-based spread in Japan: peanut cream. No, peanut butter is very different from peanut cream. Peanut cream is light and very sweet, and emotionally devastating to an American craving a good PB&J. Peanut butter, however, is a thick, salty spread with seemingly-endless uses. Today, I’d like to talk about those uses so that you can try some for yourself.
Yes, you can get peanut butter in Japan. It can be more difficult to find than other grocery items, but there is usually one tiny part of a shelf space reserved for Skippy-brand, genuine peanut butter. It’s also usually a very small container, around 340 grams, and also usually close to a thousand yen for one tiny container. It’s also devastating to an American who is used to buying 40 ounces of peanut butter (or 1134 grams) for around the same price. Why do we need so much peanut butter, you ask? There are plenty of reasons, but I’ll start with the most classic example: the PB&J.
