イギリス出身の講師Olafに、日頃の日本の生活で
感じたこと、気づいたことを教えてもらいました。

My Time in Saitama:Living in Japan Without Exploring Anywhere Else
When people imagine moving to Japan, they often picture themselves wandering through the neon-lit streets of Tokyo, visiting ancient temples in Kyoto, eating takoyaki in Osaka, or exploring the countless destinations that make Japan such a fascinating country.
My experience has been a little different.
I’ve spent a significant part of my time in Japan living and working in Saitama Prefecture, away from many of the famous tourist destinations that people dream about visiting.
Rather than travelling across the country, I’ve found myself building a life in one place, navigating everyday routines and experiencing Japan through the perspective of someone who lives here rather than someone who is simply passing through.
Building a Life Away From the Tourist Trail
Instead of constantly moving between hotels, sightseeing attractions and popular tourist districts, my daily life revolved around work, commuting, managing expenses and finding my feet in a new country. Working as an English instructor at NOVA became a significant part of that experience.
Teaching in Japan introduced me to people from different backgrounds and gave me opportunities to communicate across cultural and linguistic barriers. It also taught me that living abroad involves considerably more than learning a few Japanese phrases and taking photographs of famous landmarks.
There are responsibilities, unfamiliar systems to navigate and everyday challenges that rarely appear in travel brochures.

よく、「旅行で訪れることと、実際にその地で生活することは
まったく違う」と聞きますが、Olafも同じように感じているの
ですね！
入間校🍵がある埼玉県は、東京にアクセスしやすいですが、
日常は落ち着いているところが多く、確かに観光客が思う
賑やかなランドマークや名物は少なめです。
Olafはそんな埼玉県での生活を気に入っているそうです🤩
Olafは日本語を一生懸命勉強しているようで、NOVAで英語を
学ぶ生徒さんたちの気持ちがよくわかると話していました。
明るくて子どもの生徒さんたちからも大人気のOlafに会いに
来ませんか？😉
