August is here it’s time for summer vacation! Many people think
August is a great time to visit Florida maybe go to Disney World, but
local people know it is the hottest month of the year.
The mornings are sunny and muggy. In the afternoon, dark clouds often
appear. Heavy showers or thunderstorms can happen almost every day. The
rain usually does not last long but it does add to the humidity.
Local people wear light clothes like tanktops and shorts, and stay inside during the hottest part of the day. Many people enjoy the beach,
springs, or swimming pools to cool off. Some people aren’t as lucky and
have to commute to work on long hot and busy roads, sometimes a 30
minute commute can take 2 hours because of traffic or accidents.
August is also the start of hurricane season, so people check the
weather often. Even with the heat and rain, Florida is full of green
trees, colorful flowers, and amazing wildlife. You might see dolphins,
turtles, or even an alligator.
For local people August is just another month, for travelers it can
be brutal. If you want to visit Florida in summer be ready! But I would
suggest visiting in Winter where temps can be from 10 to 24 degrees,
much more manageable.
