An American holiday that commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, when America declared independence from Great Britain.
Independence Day is one of the most important holidays in American culture.
Families and friends gather for barbecues and fireworks!
Many towns hold parades as well and you’ll see a lot of red white and blue!
Japan does not have a holiday that is exactly the same as Independence Day but they do celebrate Tanabata, the Star Festival, on July 7th. Independence Day and Tanabata bring people together and create opportunities to spend time with family and friends and dream of the future!
Learning about holidays from different countries is a great way to understand other cultures.
Whether celebrating the Fourth of July in America or enjoying Tanabata and summer festivals in Japan, these traditions help bring people together and create lasting memories
