Why do people visit Stonehenge in June?

The most incredible thing about Stonehenge is how it aligns with the sun.
The ancient builders arranged
the stones perfectly to match the movement of the sun.
On the morning of the Summer Solstice,
the sun rises exactly behind the famous
“Heel Stone” and shines directly into the center of the monument.

Because of this magic alignment,
thousands of people gather there to watch the sunrise.
For this one special night,
visitors are allowed to walk inside the stone circle and touch the stones—something that is normally forbidden during the rest of the year!

Who goes to the festival?

A very diverse group of people visits Stonehenge for the solstice

People who follow ancient traditions and respect nature as a spiritual guide.
