Aragorn先生にイギリスの豆知識をきいてみました✨✨
The United Kingdom is an island nation in the northwest of Europe consisting of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is a diverse country with many different cultures from all over the world, a long history and beautiful nature.
There are many fun facts about the UK, today, I will share a few with you.
1．William the Conqueror, the first Norman King of England, ordered that everyone must be in their beds by 8pm! Now get to bed!!!
2．The first fish and chip shop in the UK was opened in 1860 by a Jewish immigrant.
3．On August 1, 1834, Britain passed the Slavery Abolition Act, outlawing the owning, buying and selling of humans as property.
4．In the UK, accents change noticeably every 25 miles (45 km)
5．Windsor Castle is the largest royal home in the world.
6．East Anglia, where I was born and grew up, can lay claim to being the first place in the world where English was spoken.
7．Stonehenge, in Salisbury, is older than the pyramids.
8．William Shakespeare contributed to over 1700 words in the English language. His contributions helped mold and expand the language we use today.
9．The most common letter in the English language is “e”
10．The longest word the dictionary isn’t “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, but is in fact “Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis” best practiced once you’ve had a few beers!
