✨Jess先生✨
Hi! My name is Jess. I’m from England, and last July, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in English literature. However, I am of dual nationality, so I consider myself both British and Thai.
Growing up, I lived in a lot of different countries (including France, Bangladesh, and China), but this is my first time in Japan! Since this is my first job after university, I wanted to go somewhere completely new for a fresh start. By far, the food and the scenery have been my favorite parts of Japan. Luckily, I’ve found that Nara is great at both!
In my free time, I enjoy playing video games online with my friends, or watching video essays on a range of topics on YouTube. Lately, I have also been trying to learn Japanese too! For me, learning about different cultures is fascinating. To me, learning about my students and interests is very valuable for this reason.
As a child, my greatest dream was to become an author one day. After all, one of my passions is literature (including some Japanese writers), and I like to do creative writing in my spare time. Ultimately, this interest led me to studying literature at university. If seeking recommendations for English books, I would be happy to provide.
In future, I hope to explore Japanese culture through visiting historical sites, as well as incorporating Japanese popular media into my day. If you have any recommendations for Japanese books, movies, dramas, or places I should go, please let me know!
Though teaching English clearly and concisely is my top priority, I also aim to make students feel encouraged and welcome. I hope we can learn together!
