10月といえばハロウィンですが、日本でも一年に一回のイベントがありますよね❔
そうです、運動会です🏆🎌

ということで、今回は日本の運動会にも何度か参加したことがあるイギリス人講師Jasonより、イギリスの運動会の競技を教えてもらいました🚩

Hi, my name is Jason. I`m from Manchester in the U.K and have been living in Japan for just over 10 years.

I`d like to talk about a few differences between sports day in Japan and in my home country of England.

Typically in England sports day is held in summer and usually just in primary school which is similar to elementary school. Sprints, longer races and relays are common just like Japan but we have many other games which are quite unique. Some of the more unique games are egg and spoon races, three-legged races, sack races and wheelbarrow races.

✅The egg and spoon race – Kids or adults must balance an egg on a spoon and race to the finish line trying not to drop it.

✅The three legged race – This involves kids or adults running in pairs with the left leg of one runner strapped to the right leg of the other runner. The winning pair is the first to cross the finish line.

✅The sack race – For this game kids or adults have to put both their legs inside a sack and hop forward from a starting point toward a finish line.

✅The wheelbarrow race – Kids or usually adults compete in teams of two.
One person holds on to the other player’s ankles while the other person walks with their hands.
