🌟Doing astrophotography🌟
In my free time, I love doing astrophotography. Astrophotography is very challenging as it requires the harmonious integration of software platforms that control my telescope, equatorial mount, camera and guide camera. However, as is often the case, they don’t always work so harmoniously, and at times, require a lot of problem solving.
  Then there is date acquisition. In order to produce an image of say, a galaxy. One must collect a lot of data(images) that must be stacked together with calibration files. This helps to reduce the signal to noise ratio, which moves image processing easier.
Image processing takes a lot of time as one must be careful to represent the target of interest as faithfully as possible. As astrophotographers we have a certain amount of latitude when it comes to our interpretation and representation of the target of choice. But, I try to remain as scientifically accurate as my equipment allows.
Finally, and after all the trails and processing the data to produce on image of something that could be millions of light years away. I sit back and marvel at the fact that I can take photos or our beautiful, majestic and magnificent universe, and all from a carpark in Nara!!
