🚅Davidはどんな旅行が好き?🏯
Two week ago was a uniquely Japanese annual holiday; Golden Week.
As we don’t have Golden Week in the US or the UK, I find this semi-enforced period quite interesting.
Even though I didn’t travel as I was busy moving to a new house, I did notice on TV that many of the popular travel destinations around Japan were incredibly busy.
As someone who can’t stand overly crowded places, especially touristy spots, I tend to avoid them at all cost.
It is quite unfortunate that many Japanese, who are starved of well scheduled vacations, are forced to travel during this peak, expensive time.
When I travel, I usually seek out the more far flung places and back alley areas as I like to get a true sense of the local culture, food and people.
Although these places can be uncomfortable, especially without a decent grasp of basic language, I find such experiences exhilarating and an adrenaline rush.
Some folks like roller coasters but I prefer diving into the unknown!

🧳Davidの6年前の思い出🛺
Around six years ago my wife and I took a trip to Thailand.
For a couple of days we took in such sights as the The Grand Palace, a very popular tourist spot most well-known for its gorgeous gold temple.
While I enjoyed the spectacle of the grand architecture, I found other sightseers with their selfie sticks and lack of attention on having a true experience frustrating.
This dampened my enjoyment and after that we decided to seek out the more unknown and deeper parts of Bangkok.
On possibly the most memorable day, we ventured out to a local food market that had been recommended to his viewers by the excellent food vlogger Mark Wiens.
Mark is a YouTuber who has one of the longest running and most successful food channels on the platform.
Based out of Bangkok but always bringing us videos from almost every country imaginable, he often exposes the deeper streets and best food of Thailand.
Upon hopping into a tuk tuk, the driver became surprised at our knowledge of such a local market exclusively frequented by Bangkok locals.
I truly relish experiences such as these and have missed them during the dark days of the pandemic.
