State Spotlight: Minnesota

The United States is home to 50 unique and beautiful states, but some are more famous than others! Today let’s take a look at the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”, Minnesota.

Minnesota is in the north, and as such has some of the coldest temperatures, ranking in the top five coldest states in the US. It is home to Snoopy, the famous musicians Prince and Bob Dylan, and Wizard of Oz actress Judy Garland.

Minnesota boasts both rich agriculture and highly advanced medical science. They are among the biggest producers of sweet corn, turkey farms, and dairy in the US, and also the location of the headquarters of the world-famous Mayo clinic.

With temperatures so cold in winter, activities like snowmobiling and ice hockey are popular. Many people also enjoy fishing and boating on the (over 11,000!) lakes. The Twin Cities, Minneapolis and Saint Paul, are home to many museums, theaters, and art galleries for those less interested in the outdoors.

And of course, you can’t mention Minnesota without talking about the Mall of America. MoA, as it’s often called, has over 500 stores and 50 restaurants. It also has a theme park, a movie theater, and an aquarium all in one giant mall. There’s even a place where you can make your own crayons!
