私はトマトは野菜と認識しておりましたが、外国ではトマトを果物と定義して、スーパーの果物売り場にトマトが並んでいる光景を見たことがある人も多いのではないでしょうか❔❔

Tomatoes are my Favorite Summer Fruit!
Did you know tomatoes are fruits? Most people consider this juicy red edible plant to be a vegetable but it’s technically a fruit. The difference between a fruit and vegetable is in which part of the plant you eat. If the roots, leaves, or stem of a plant are eaten, that is called a vegetable. But, the seed-bearing structure of a plant is called a fruit. A tomato plant has roots, vines, flowers and stems but it is only the “fruit” that we eat. Even so, it is often considered a tomato rather than a vegetable based on its flavor and texture.
A popular summer dish of the Southern United States is “Fried Green Tomatoes”. Green tomatoes are unripe tomatoes or unmatured tomatoes. These tomatoes are sliced to medium thickness and coated in cornmeal, a kind of coarse flour made from corn, and deep fried. And they’re usually served with a tangy mayonnaise sauce.
What are your favorite summer fruits and vegetables? Remember, per the actual definition of fruits and vegetables, cucumbers, tomatoes, and even eggplants are classified as fruits. And do you consider tomatoes to be fruit?

ちなみに私は土の中で育つものは野菜、地上で育つものは果物と教わったこともあるのですが、イギリス人講師のAnthonyに聞いたところ同じように種を含むものが果物なので、ナスもピーマンもキュウリもすべて果物とのことです👀⚡
