今日はイギリス出身のGregが”Thanksgiving”について教えてくれました。
Thanksgivingの後からクリスマスの飾り付けをし始めて、長いお家では3月ごろまで飾ったままのところもあるみたい😲
アメリカのデコレーションはスケールが違い、庭から家全体までイルミネーション飾り付けてるお家がありますよね。見てみたいですよね😍
For many in North America, Thanksgiving is one of the most important times of the year. Celebrated in the USA, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia and even Liberia, families come together every October or November, depending on the country, to give thanks for all the good fortune received over the year. But do you know how Thanksgiving came to be?
In 1620, settlers came over from the British Isles to what is now Masschusetts in search of new home during a cold winter with little food or supplies. The following winter a tribe of native Indians, the Wampanoag, saw their troubles and decided to teach the settlers how to grow their own food and hunt in their lands. To give thanks, during Autumn they invited the Wampanoag to a large feast using the food they had grown and collected. This was celebrated for many years until it became the tradition it is today.
Having American roots, almost all of the food eaten during the Thanksgiving celebration is of North American origin with very little European vegetables or meat. These include turkey, sweet potatoes, corn, cranberry, beans, yams, pumpkin etc. In addition, Thanksgiving often also includes a big game of American football and even a parade in many cities!

日本にも収穫祭など各土地で実りを感謝するお祭りがありますね。
他にも同じようなお祭りやイベントがありますが、にほんとちょっと違っていたり日本にはないイベントもあります。
