本日は草加校の人気講師James先生が、
大好きなサッカーについて語ってくれました⚽
My football team won the semi-final game
against Southampton on Sunday April 19th.
This of course means that we have qualified
for the FA Cup final.
The FA Cup is a prestigious trophy in England
which kicked off in November 1871.
It is the first time in my lifetime
that my team Leicester City have qualified for the final.
As you can imagine, I’m over the moon about it,
despite not being very optimistic about
beating Chelsea in order to lift the trophy.
For anyone who doesn’t already know,
football is a sport that originated in England and
is referred to in many countries(including Japan)
as “soccer”.
日本では『サッカー』という呼び方が主流ですが、
『Soccer』はアメリカ式の呼び方なんだそうです👀
アメリカでは『American Football』(アメフト)という
違う競技との混同を防ぐために
『Soccer』という呼び方になったんだとか⚽
