Leap Day/Leap year
This year we have one extra day, February 29, which is known as a leap day. Therefore, this year is known as a leap year. Years without February 29 are known as common years.
You might think that every four years is a leap year, but actually that is not true. It’s quite complex but the following is the rule:
Every year that is exactly divisible by four is a leap year, except for years that are exactly divisible by 100, but these years are leap years if they are exactly divisible by 400. For example, the years 1700, 1800, and 1900 are not leap years, but the years 1600 and 2000 are.
People who are born on February 29 are often called leaplings or leapers, and they usually celebrate their birthdays on February 28 in common years.

4年に一度と言われているうるう年、実はそうとは限らず、
