It’s January!✨
新年になり新しいものが色々欲しくなる時期に
初売りに福袋に縁起もの、と本当心惹かれるものが
目に飛び込んできますよね！～(*´▽｀*)～🎵
今回は、Benjamin先生にイギリスのSALESについて聞いてみました！
ちなみに、sale と bargain の違いは
・ sale = 値引き販売がされる期間
・ bargain = 安くて良い品物
とのこと。混同して使ってしまっていることありそうですね(^▽^;)
It’s January! You know what that means? It’s time to go shopping!
People in the U.K. often receive money or gift-cards for Christmas, so January is a very popular time to go shopping.
Luckily, store sales tend to happen in January. They are called ‘January Sales’. A ‘Sale’ is a kind of event where many items in stores are sold at very cheap prices. You can often pick up many bargains!
A ‘bargain’ is a cheap item.
Summer is also a common time for sales.
Huge sales are often held at clothes stores in Winter and Summer. You can often find clothes from 50—90% off (fifty to ninety percent off), especially if you buy summer clothes in the winter sales, or winter clothes in the summer sales. I sometimes used to buy my winter coat in the summer sale and my friends thought I was crazy.
“Why are you buying a winter coat in summer?”
“Because it’s 90% off!”
Other shops also have January and summer sales, though. In winter, electronics shops have discounted items on last year’s models. You could find a bargain washing machine or refrigerator if you go shopping in January!
In summer, book shops often have sales because many people go on trips abroad. British people like to read books while sitting on the beach in Spain or Greece while getting sunburned!
