グランドホッグデー（Groundhog Day）をご存知ですか？
日本ではあまり知っている方は少ないかもしれませんが
アメリカやカナダでは有名なイベントになります！

Have you ever heard of Groundhog day?
Groundhog day is February 2 every year. It is NOT a public holiday but a traditional special event happens on this day in the USA.
A Groundhog is an animal that lives under the ground. Some people say it can predict if winter will be short or long.
The tradition says that if the groundhog sees its shadow on February 2 it will be frightened by it and return to its underground home, therefore winter will last six more weeks.
If it doesn’t see it’s shadow then spring will be coming soon.
The first groundhog day celebration was held in 1887.
Of course it’s not necessarily accurate to predict the weather, but it is a fun event and the result is always reported in the news that day.
