いよいよ9/20（金）からラグビーワールドカップが日本で開催されますね！
本日はおしゃべり大好きベテラン講師のMichelleが
ラグビーに関する英語を伝授してくれました✨
ラグビーについて詳しい方もそうでない方も、

『Let’s Learn About Rugby!』
Friday, September 20th will be the first match of the Rugby World Cup 2019!
It will feature host Japan versus Russia.
It will take place over six weeks, with the final being held in Yokohama on Saturday, November 2nd.
20 countries are divided into four Pools (groups).
Japan is in Pool A together with Ireland, Scotland, Russia and Samoa.
Only the top two teams in each pool will move to the quarterfinals,
with the winners of those moving on to the semi finals and lastly the final.
Only four countries have won the World Cup before,
New Zealand with 3 victories, South Africa and Australia each with 2, and England with 1.
In the last World Cup Japan pulled off (achieved) the greatest upset (surprise) in World Cup history,
beating South Africa. Can they surprise again?
✎Rugby vocabulary📓
■Try-this is when the player carries the ball across the try line at the end of the field.
It is worth five points
■Conversion-this is after a try when the kicker kicks the ball
between the goal posts and over the crossbar. It is worth two points
■Tackling-this is when the opposite team tries to bring down the player with the ball
■Penalty kick-when the other team makes a serious foul this can be given. It is worth three points
■All Blacks-the nickname given to New Zealand’s national team due to their all-black uniform.
