日本に来る前はどんなことをしてたのでしょうか？🤔

Hello everyone! I’m Josh, one of the instructors at the NOVA Matsuyama branch.
Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, I formerly worked as a freelance performer in film and television; most notably in Netflix’s Stranger Things to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 after moving across the United States to Atlanta, Georgia.
My experience professionally include acting, fight choreography, dance, and precision driving.
I enjoy sweets and savory foods daily, however exercise and health are things I maintain at the same time.
Since moving to Matsuyama, I often go to many parks to exercise, exploring new places in nature and the city, singing karaoke, practicing Japanese, and making new friends along the way.
My childhood dream was to experience Japan so I’m delighted to share my experiences with many people.
My approach to learning is to keep things fun, relatable, and I openly encourage asking questions.
Even if you are shy, please seek me out as I strive to make a safe environment to make mistakes; after all, that is how we improve.
Please allow me to assist your journey in learning.

映画好きなDavid、今までに何本の映画を見てきたのでしょうか…❕❔

今年も早速映画漬けのDavid…❕❔😮

If you are a fan of movies and like to follow others and get followers, post movie reviews, give movies a score or just keep track of what you have seen and want to see Letterboxd is an amazing resource.
I highly recommend it to any cinephile out there! As of now I have watched almost three thousand movies and logged them on there. In 2024 I have already seen almost eighty movies although this number includes shorts too.
My most recent entry was for Lawrence of Arabia. Running at almost four hours (!) this famous and classic film should be watched by any serious movie fan at least once although if you’re not a fan of historical epics I don’t recommend it.
I found the desert photography with its giant dunes and scatterings of camels gorgeous, but the history and everything in between a little dull. Each to our own I guess!

前回のブログから1ヶ月も間が空いてしまい、本当にごめんなさい❕💦
マルチタスクというのは難しい…(;・∀・)

さてさて、3月になり暖かくなるかと思えば、まだまだ寒い日が続いていますね❕🌸
気温の変化に体調を崩さないよう、お気を付けください😉
今週からは、松山の桜が開花シーズンに突入するそうなので、万全の体調でお花見を
楽しみたいですからね❕

前回から時間は空いてしまいましたが、Davidのプログパート3です(`･ω･´)
映画好きな彼がおすすめする映画はどんな映画でしょうか❓

Davidが好きな映画監督が作る映画はどんな映画❓🤔

My favourite Paul Thomas Anderson movie is There Will be Blood. It starred Daniel Day Lewis as an oil man. An oil man was an explorer who searched for oil in the early days of the United States for personal wealth and power.
The film is part historical drama and part horror. Lewis plays a truly fearful character who wrestles with his hatred of religion and his overwhelming desire for money and power.
The movie is thrilling and terrifying and has one of the great endings. I highly recommend it but it is not an easy movie to watch due to its dark subject matter. It is darkly funny at times though.
That is mostly due to Lewis’s incredible performance!
Back to filling in the blanks. The only Anderson movie I hadn’t seen was Hard Eight and so this week watched the film on U-Next.
It follows a professional gambler who tries to help a down on his luck man who is looking to make six thousand dollars so that he can pay for his mother’s funeral.
The film mostly takes place in Las Vegas or the diners and small venues that litter the surrounding desert. The movie is extremely stylish and well-made, with some superb performances.
There is also a twist ending and some darkness to the overall story. The ending is ambiguous but interesting. Having now seen Hard Eight I can say that I have seen every Paul Thomas Anderson movie.
It is nice to fill in the gaps! To log which movies I have seen and keep a record I am a member of the social media website and app Letterboxd.

旅行だけじゃない😎Davidは映画もたくさん見ます❕❕🤩

As of now I don’t have any chance to travel so I have been making the most of my time by watching as many movies as I can.
For many years I have been a big fan of the horror genre and that had been my focus. However, this year I decided to watch more classic movies and fill in the blanks from some of my favourite directors.
For example, I am a fan of Paul Thomas Anderson, the American filmmaker who has made such movies as Boogie Nights, There Will be Blood, Magnolia and The Phantom Thread.
Each movie he makes has its own unique story and style and he is constantly evolving while retaining the qualities that make him a true contemporary auteur.
The word “auteur” might be a tricky one but it means a film director that has a constant and clear style that is unique to them. For example, when watching Stanley Kubrick’s movies we can clearly attribute them to him.

I haven’t written a blog post in ages but I hope you will enjoy reading this one!
I also hope you are all having a great 2024 and have some exciting plans for the year ahead. Now that the pandemic is truly in the rear view mirror,
we all have a great opportunity to travel and make new memories. Last year I did just that with my trip to Thailand and I hope to do that again this year.
At the moment it is a toss up between Busan, Korea or somewhere like Vietnam or Indonesia. As many of you know I love Asia and especially spicy food.
All of those destinations would certainly satisfy that urge!
