先月より特集しておりました「Caileeの日本語勉強法のご紹介」。ついに本日最終回となります。最終回はCaileeから語学学習を頑張っていらっしゃる生徒様へのメッセージです。

Learning a new language can be difficult and challenging, but it can be a lot of fun when you use many different studying strategies. I am always encouraged to study everyday. One day, I will study for 2-hours. Another day, I will study for 20 minutes. Continue to learn something new everyday, if it’s vocabulary, grammar, or a new phrase. All of my students learning English encourage me to continue studying Japanese. Let’s do our best to practice and study everyday in order to reach our goals!

（訳：新しい言語を学ぶことは難しく、困難なことですが、様々な勉強法を駆使すれば、楽しく出来ます。私は毎日勉強するように勧められています。ある日は2時間、またある日は20分だけ。語彙や文法、新しいフレーズなど、毎日何か新しいことを学び続けています。英語を学んでいる生徒さんたちみなさんが、私が日本語の勉強を続けられるよう励ましてくれています。目標達成のために、毎日練習と勉強を一緒に頑張りましょう。）

昨日のブログに引き続き、本日も、Caileeが始めた日本語レッスンの様子をご紹介致します。たくさん書いてくれたので少しずつご紹介致しますので、少しずつ英語のリーディングに活用してみてくださいね。

Write out the conversations you have at work, school, or spending time with friends or family!
When I spend time with my Japanese friends, I tend to make a lot of mistakes. My friends help me as much as they can and always teach me the correct way of speaking Japanese. However, I felt encouraged to document and write my conversations, such as the sentences I tried to say and new sentences I could try to say next time. This is helpful practice for me to not make the same mistakes again and learn new ways to speaking Japanese. I’ll try to practice and write in my notebook everyday in both Romaji and Japanese. Next time I spend time with my Japanese friends, I feel more confident to speak the correct way.

実際に話す可能性のある会話を想定して書いておくのはいいですね。何を話そうかあらかじめ考えておくのは、英語のレッスンにも使えるコツですよね。Caileeの語学習得の方法は、生徒様の英語学習の復習方法のヒントになるのではないでしょうか？次回もこの続きをご紹介致します。

Write your own script and practice speaking out loud!
One of my friends studied English for 2-years and can have basic conversations with me. One strategy he uses is writing English conversations on a sheet of paper and talking to himself out loud. He explained that this helps him understand what to say in any situation or setting. He also tries to reenact Japanese movies and TV shows by translating the scripts and acting out the scenes in English. This is a good idea for people who want to be creative or have an interest in watching movies and TV shows.

今回はCaileeのお友達が実践しているコツをおしえてくれました！日常会話で話しそうなことをイメージして自分で台本を作って練習しているそうで、日本の映画なども参考にしているようですが、黙読ではなく、声に出して練習するということがポイントですね。Caileeたちの語学習得の方法は、生徒様の英語学習の復習方法のヒントになるのではないでしょうか？次回もこの続きをご紹介致します。

Don’t be afraid of mistakes!
Sometimes we get shy or embarrassed when speaking a new language. It’s sometimes gets humiliating when we say something wrong and our friends make fun of us. I always encourage myself to continue speaking Japanese and if I make a mistake, continue to learn from it and move on with a smile. We will never get the first try perfect, but the more mistakes you make with pronunciation, writing, and reading, the better you will be. You learn the most from the mistakes you make!

Make a game out of it! I like to practice my hiragana and katakana by playing matching games. I like puzzles and when I have fun, it helps me remember more. I also create flash cards and play by myself or friends do guess the meaning of a Japanese word or phrase. When you’re having fun, you can remember a lot more.

ゲーム感覚で楽しみながらできると覚えやすいですよね。Cailee自作のフラッシュカードいっぱい持っていますよ🤣！Caileeの語学習得の方法は、生徒様の英語学習の復習方法のヒントになるのではないでしょうか？次回もこの続きをご紹介致します。

Study in a place where you can stay focused! I come to learn that I am unable to study at my apartment due to the many distractions. In order to stay focused on my studying, I will go to a coffee shop or bookstore. What I like about these types of environments is the atmosphere. Everyone in the shops will either be working, studying, or reading. When I’m surrounded by people who are determined and focused, this encourages me to also stay focused and studying more Japanese.

Speaking the language to native speakers in order to practice and get feedback! When ever I come to NOVA, I tell the staff what I learned in my classes and demonstrate my Japanese to them. They always encourage me to speak as much Japanese as I can to get familiar with the language and correct my pronunciation as well. I also encourage my Japanese friends to only speak to me in Japanese. If I don’t know how to say something in Japanese, I will ask in Japanese: how do you say this word/sentence in Japanese?

（訳：ネイティブスピーカーと会話して練習し、フィードバックをもらう！NOVA出勤したら、授業で習ったことをスタッフに話したり、日本語を披露したりします。日本語に慣れるために、できるだけたくさん日本語を話すようにいつも励まされています。また、日本人の友人には、私とは日本語でしか話さないように頼んでいます。日本語でどう言えばいいのかわからないときは、「この単語や文章は日本語でどう言うのですか」と日本語で聞きます。）

Write as much as you can! When I was memorizing hiragana and katakana, I would write in my notebook repeatedly until I was able to memorize each character on my own. If I learn a new vocabulary word or a new sentence in class, I will write it all out in Japanese to memorize what it looks like and how to pronounce it. This also helps me with memorizing my hiragana, katakana, and kanji as well.

(訳：できるだけたくさん書く！ひらがなやカタカナを覚えるときは、一文字ずつ自分で覚えられるようになるまで、繰り返しノートに書き込んでいます。授業で新しい単語や文章を覚えたら、それを全部日本語で書き出して、どんな形か、どう発音するのかを覚えます。これは、ひらがな、カタカナ、漢字の暗記にも役立っています。)

昨日のブログに引き続き、本日も、Caileeが始めた日本語レッスンの様子をご紹介致します。たくさん書いてくれたので少しずつご紹介致しますので、少しずつ英語のリーディングに活用してみてくださいね。

Now that I started, I have been memorizing vocabulary, speaking in full sentences, memorizing hiragana/katakana/kanji, and writing sentences in Japanese. My classes are teaching basic Japanese language speaking, such as: introducing myself in Japanese, asking/telling time, Japanese currency, asking questions, and much more. With my program, we learn so much in little time. It can be really scary and also a bit discouraging how fast the classes go. However, my studying does not stop when class is over. I always take time outside of my Japanese language school to study more. Whatever I learn the day of class, I take time after class to practice what I’ve been taught. We have a test every Friday. After my test, I use my weekend to review what I was taught that week in order to prepare for the next week’s lesson. Here are some of the strategies I use when I study another language:
