本日は、昨日のブログに引き続き、Lindsayが先日千葉に行った際の旅行の思い出をブログに書いてくれたのでご紹介致します。かなり長い文章を書いてくれたので、パート1とパート2に分けてご紹介いたします。ぜひレッスンでLindsayに詳細を聞いてみてくださいね！

パート2

On our way back to Tokyo, we stopped at one last place. The Kimisazaru Tower’s observation deck had a fantastic view of Tokyo Bay even in the rain, and we took some nice pictures. Afterwards, wandered down into the museum beside the tower, the Kisarazu Hometown Museum Kin-no-Suzu. The museum was extremely interesting, and had a wide range of artifacts and exhibits describing the history of both the area and Japanese water technology. It had a special exhibit on ‘golden bells,’ described as an important cultural artifact of Japan, and even included a life-sized horse modeling many such bells on its gear. When we left the museum, the rain was finally letting up, and we drove home satisfied.
The entire adventure only took one day, but we enjoyed so much unique food, sightseeing, and cultural history that it felt like the entire week. Exploring just a tiny part of a nearby prefecture made me want to find even more to explore, and also improve my Japanese to better understand the different exhibits and talk to other people. I hope that those who want to explore other countries will find the language skills they need here at Nova to make the most of their trip!

本日は、Lindsayが先日千葉に行った際の旅行の思い出をブログに書いてくれたのでご紹介致します。かなり長い文章を書いてくれたので、パート1とパート2に分けてご紹介いたします。

Recently, I went on a car trip to Kimitsu in Chiba. It was a rainy day in early June, and my sister and I rented a car and drove out of Tokyo city. After navigating the multiple highways and toll roads to cross the bay, we found ourselves in a lush green countryside that was a view all its own. Chiba Prefecture touches both Tokyo Bay on its west coast and the Pacific on its east coast. In this year’s rainy season, it was especially green while we drove to our destination.
Our first stop on our list was Nomizo Falls and Kaneiwa Cave, located in Kimitsu, Chiba. Whether because of the weather or because of its remote location, we seemed to be the only sightseers out there that day. My sister and I made our way along a short walk and found the falls first. There were mushrooms along the path, trailing clovers, and flourishing azaleas. Beside the falls was a long boardwalk path that led to the main road, with even more beautiful greenery surrounding it and tiny streams leading back to the falls. The falls themselves were a shortcut, as the river used to take a much longer route around the rock that was tunneled through. Despite the rain, it was a stunning sight.

After leaving the falls, we traveled to the next spot on our list, a manmade tunnel called Okugome Tunnel. This was located in a very small town surrounded by greenery and farms. The main tunnel was closed for maintenance for the month, but we were able to instead enjoy the surrounding area and its scenery. We even spotted a large hawk settling on one of the nearby buildings as we were coming back.
After exploring in Okugome, we made our way to a small udon and soba shop for lunch. 手打ちそばうどんかみ山, or Handmade Soba Udon Kamiyama, was the first of our eating spots. It was somewhat unplanned, but definitely a worthwhile stop. After enjoying a couple bowls of soba, we then made our way to the Honey and Mead Farm nearby. Though it was too late to enjoy one of its honey production tours, we enjoyed sampling different types of honeys and honey-based alcohol, then relaxed with honey ice cream.

本日は、Sachinからのお別れメッセージを載せさせていただきます。

先日のブログや、メールでも告知しておりましたが、優しく生徒様からも人気でしたSachinですが、イギリスに帰国するため、残念ながら7/28(月)がNOVA川崎校での最終出勤日となります。

お別れのメッセージを残してくれましたので、ぜひご覧になっていただき、最後にレッスン取ってあげてくださいね！生徒様からのおすすめがあったから、日本の素敵な場所に色々行けたよとのことでした！

Farewell message

I am writing this message to say thank you and goodbye to all my students. After 6 months in Japan I will be returning to the UK. While I am looking forward to seeing my friends and family back home I will be very sad to say goodbye to Japan and I will miss teaching all my students at NOVA. When I arrived in Japan many of my students helped me to feel very welcome and I learned a lot about Japan from them. Many of my favourite places I have visited in Japan have been recommended to me by students! So I would like to thank all my students as they have made my experience in Japan so much better! I hope to come back to Japan in the future for a vacation!

前回のブログに引き続き、本日もイギリス・ロンドン出身の講師、Sachinがロンドンのおすすめスポットを教えてくれたのでご紹介いたします。

ロンドンというと、「ビッグ・ベン」や「ロンドン・アイ」などが有名ですが、今回は、地元民ならではのおすすめの場所を教えてくれました。

ロンドンは人気の観光地なので、ご旅行や留学で行かれる方も多いのではないかと思いますので、ぜひ参考にしてみてくださいね！4つおすすめしてくれたので、2つずつご紹介致します。

③Hampstead Heath

If you would like to visit a park while you are in London, I highly recommend Hampstead Heath. This is in North London and if you visit on a weekend morning you will see lots of locals going for walks with their families. The park is very big and also hilly and if you walk to the top of Parliament hill you can experience a beautiful view of London. If the weather is nice, this is a really nice spot to have a picnic and also to see the sunset. If you are feeling extra brave you can also swim in the famous Hampstead Ponds. Although the water is very cold, it is refreshing and you can feel like you are one of the locals. The ponds are closed during the Winter season though, so if you would like to visit you should check that they are open.

④Borough market

Borough market is a famous food market in central London, just south of the River Thames. It is pretty big and you will be able to find many different types of food here. Lots of the stalls have free samples that you can try so I recommend trying as much food as possible. This will help you to decide what you would like. Personally, I love cheese so if I visit I usually try some of the cheeses from the cheese stalls. There are also lots of stalls with jams and spreads that would make a souvenir to bring back to Japan! The market is very popular so I recommend visiting early in the morning if possible. Usually there are lots of breakfast options. One of my earliest memories is going to Borough market with my family and having an amazing bacon sandwich for breakfast! So if you are not sure what to eat a bacon sandwich is always a good choice! If you would prefer to visit a clothing and antiques market I recommend Portobello Market. This is located in West London near Notting Hill. If you decide to visit here I recommend trying some Portuguese Custard Tarts from a shop in the area. This is one of my favourite desserts!

本日はイギリス・ロンドン出身の講師、Sachinがロンドンのおすすめスポットを教えてくれたのでご紹介いたします。

①The Tate Modern

If you are interested in art, I recommend the Tate Modern. This is a beautiful art gallery located right on South Side of the River Thames. This is in the center of London and is not too far from Big Ben. This means that you can easily visit both  places in one afternoon. The gallery is famous for its huge “Turbine Hall”.  This is the entrance to the building and there is usually an interesting exhibition that you can see here. The building is very large and has many different exhibitions that you can visit.  Even if you are not  interested in art I think you will find the architecture amazing. After you finish here you can walk along the river and enjoy the views.

②The Barbican

The Barbican is one of my favourite places in London. It opened in the 1980s as a residential community with a unique concrete architecture style. What makes it so special is how different it feels to the rest of London. There are many places to visit in the Barbican, including a theater, a concert hall, an art gallery and a plant conservatory. I would recommend researching if there are any interesting exhibitions or plays that you would like to see. Also you  should buy tickets in advance as they often sell out quickly. I love going to the cinema here because it is a beautiful screen with comfy seats, and tickets are only 5 pounds (1000 yen) if you are younger than 25. For London this is a very good price!

本日は、「KIDSスピーチコンテスト2025」の開催決定のお知らせです。

【KIDSスピーチコンテストとは？】
NOVAバイリンガルKIDSの生徒様が、英語で自分自身を表現する機会として、年に1 度開催されるビッグイベントです🎈。2020年の英語教育改革以降、「英語で考え、それを英語で表現すること」は、今のお子様たちに一番求められている力🎤！コンテスト参加を通じて「英語での思考力・豊かな表現力・チャレンジ精神」を養うことができる企画となっています。さらに、優勝すると「2026年度夏の海外留学プレゼント」または「レッスン特待生」に🎉

昨年参加されたお子さんたちの多くは、最初に撮った動画と、最終的に提出した動画で見違えるほど成長し、ご本人たちの自信になっておりました。「おじいちゃんおばあちゃんにも動画を送って英語褒めてもらえた」「とても良い経験になった」など、たくさんの嬉しいお声も👴👵！参加すること自体に意味のあるコンテストとなっています👦👩。ぜひチャレンジしてみてくださいね。
