NOVAキッズ夏のレベルアップコンテスト2021！

こんにちはＮＯＶＡ門前仲町です！

今日はＮＯＶＡキッズのイベントのご紹介です♪

今年もこの季節がやってきましたーー！！

「夏のレベルアップコンテスト２０２１」

毎年恒例の年に2回のイベントです。

レベルアップができるのはこのテストの時期です★

例年たくさんのご応募を頂く為、予約が埋まってしまった…

なんてことがないようにＮＯＶＡの講師陣も増やして開催致します。

ＰｏｗｅｒＵｐしてます↑↑

面接（スピーキング）テスト30分、筆記（ライティング）テスト10分

トータル40分といつものレッスンと同じ時間です。

いつもと違うメンバーと先生でオンラインのテストとなります。

環境が変わっても力が発揮できるかが大きなポイント！

1人でも多くのＮＯＶＡキッズがレベルアップ出来るのを私たちも楽しみにます!(^^)!

講師紹介コーナー！ NEW講師のMatthew

こんにちはNOVA門前仲町校です！

本日は講師紹介コーナーです★

アメリカ出身のNEW講師のMatthewです！

自己紹介文だけでも日本大好きなのが伝わってきます☻

色んな土地を知っているのでフリートークの際にいっぱい質問しちゃいましょう♪

On the grassy banks of the Iowa River, in a University town called Iowa City, is where I was born. Iowa is famous for its delicious sweet corn, its pork tenderloin cutlets (similar to tonkatsu but we eat it in a hamburger bun served with pickles and onion) and of course the college football team “The Iowa Hawkeyes”.

My life changed forever when I went to the University of California, and that adventure eventually led me to Japan. You see, it was in my college days at UCSC that I started studying Aikido, also known as “The Art of Peace”. In 2001 I came to study at the Aikido Honbu dojo in Shinjuku and lived in Koenji for 3 months. However it was winter and a little cold. Furthermore the internet was new, communication was very difficult at that time and very few people spoke English.

Upon graduating I returned home to Iowa where i worked in restaurants and schools for a number of years. I had the lucky chance to return to Japan in the summer of 2014. On that trip I studied aikido at the honbu dojo in Shinjuku again but I also saw the countryside. I traveled from Kanazawa to Hida-Takayama, to Shingu and Hongu and Nachi Falls, climbed up and down Mr Fuji and partied in Ueno and Asakusa, went to see the Swallows play the Carp at Jingu Stadium…. In 2014, most of the people I met in Tokyo spoke a little English. I knew, by the end of the month, that I wanted to spend another year here.

I returned to Iowa and enrolled at e University of Iowa studying Japanese that fall. At the end of the year I applied as an exchange student at Meiji University. Meiji was a great place to learn more deeply about Japanese culture. By the time I graduated I had met my wife. Now we live in Shinjuku, and I’m still just a 10 walk from the Aikido Honbu dojo.

I’m also pleased that I was just accepted to Waseda University as a graduate student. Japan has been very good to me. Despite the difficulties of the last year, I’m so happy to be living in Tokyo and doing what I love. I hope I can help you with your language goals because I truly believe that whether you are learning a new language for the first time, or just want to polish up your skills, it can change your life. It certainly changed mine.

講師紹介コーナー！TOP50講師Nathan

皆様こんにちは！NOVA門前仲町校です。

本日の講師は・・・TOP５０講師Nathan！

門前仲町校では毎週月曜日にティーチングをしています♪

意外な趣味を持っているところにも注目です!(^^)!

Hello! My name is Nathan. I have been living in Tokyo since December 2018, and I teach in
Monzen Nakacho, Kinshicho, and Suitengu-Mae. I am in Monzen on Mondays, Kinshicho on
Tuesdays, and Suitengu every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I was born in Oxford, Mississippi, but do not have much memory of living there since my family
moved to Kentucky when I was four years old. I grew up living in the countryside in western
Kentucky and enjoyed playing and watching sports with my family and friends. I played many
sports, but enjoyed baseball, tennis, and basketball especially.

At school, my favorite subjects were history and geography. I always liked learning about other
countries and cultures, but I never had the chance to travel outside of America until I came to
Japan. After Kentucky, my family moved to Hannibal, Missouri, and I went to university there.
Hannibal is on the western side of the Mississippi River and is known for being the hometown of
Mark Twain.

I first visited Japan during my summer vaction in 2016 when I stayed with the family of a friend
I met at university. My friend is from Hiroshima, and I loved the time I spent there so much that
once I returned to America, I started planning to live in Japan someday. It is hard to explain what
it is that I like so much about living in Japan, but I usually tell people that I love the food in
Japan. My favorite is seafood, such as sashimi and unagi.

In my time off, I like reading, watching movies, and listening to music. I enjoy many kinds
of books, but I most often read about historical topics. When I was in America, I participated in
chess tournaments, and would like to play in more chess tournaments in Japan, but recently I
mostly just speed chess games online.

Living in Japan has been a greatly valuable experience as I have gotten to meet many people
who have provided me with various perspectives on different aspects of life that I would
never have learned about if I had stayed in Kentucky or Missouri. It gives me great joy to be a
part of helping students enjoy learning English. I hope everyone who takes my lessons and reads
this blog will keep seeking to expand their knowledge and learn more about different cultures
to help us all grow closer together and realize the commonalities that we share across cultures.

今日は講師紹介コーナーです。第1号はPolly(*^^)

Hello! How is the weather?

My name is Polly. I’m from the Cotswolds, England. My favourite colour is red, and my favourite season is autumn.

On Mondays I work at Ginza school, and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, I work at Monzen Nakacho school. On Fridays I practice my hobbies, and on Sundays I listen to music while cleaning my apartment.

When I was a little girl, I didn’t like living in a quiet, pretty village full of dogs and rabbits. I wanted to live in a city where I could eat and sing and walk whenever I wanted to. I am very happy in Tokyo.

I’ve always wanted to be good at a sport. As a teenager, I fenced for my country, but my current favourite is Charleston dancing. I would also like to learn how to roller skate and to join a Roller Derby team one day.

Tokyo is a city of independence and introspection, and has been keeping me protected and supported as I approach the next decade of my life.

I aim for my students to leave classes happier than when they arrived, and give back to Tokyo whenever I can. I wish everyone a happy time and I hope to talk with you someday.
