今日は、Alexが子どもの頃にしていた遊びを教えてくれました🪁
『Conkers fight』栗によく似たトチの実を使った遊びで、Alexが子どもの頃はお母さんと公園を散歩する時は必ずトチの実が落ちてないか下を見て歩いてたそうです！
Gregは『トチの実は本当に硬いから気をつけないと怪我するよ。』って言ってました。
そんなに固いんですね😲
As Summer turns to Fall, we see many changes around us. The weather gets colder, the leaves turn golden and red. People swap sunglasses out for scarves One thing you may see in Fall the UK is children playing a game of “conkers”.
This is a game where horse chestnuts (also known as conkers) are tied to strings and children take turns hitting their opponents chestnuts in hopes of breaking them with their own chestnut left intact. If the conker is knocked off the string without breaking it is not considered a victory and the conker can be tied back onto the string again.
The first step to playing is finding the perfect chestnut. I remember walking around the park with my mum looking for the biggest conker possible. After collecting big bags of them they are taken home and sorted through for the perfect nut. A parent will then drill a hole through the conker and a string will be tied to it.
There is an additional step of putting the conker in a pot of vinegar in hopes of making the nut stronger and less likely to break; some people consider this cheating.
