3月4月は卒業式・入学式の季節ですね🌸
日本は、入学式・卒業式が幼稚園・小学校・中学校・高校・大学とありますが、
海外ではどうなんでしょうか🤔
今日は、Gregの学生時どうだったか聞いてみました🤗
In Japan, school enrollment and graduation ceremonies are a big part of school life for many. Involving large numbers of students, teachers and parents. As a European this strikes me as a strange and superflous tradition.
In the British Isles starting and finising a stage of education is seen as very ordinary and passing from primary to middle or middle to high school is a very casual and everyday part of life. I often recall on my final day of highschool I said goodbye to most of my teachers of three years with a simple “See ya” and that was the end.
Only at the end of university, the final step and often seen as the most difficult and important one, is any ceremony given to graduation. A day long event is held in which students step forward one by one to accept their degrees and take photos with fellow classmates, it’s pretty boring.
Perhaps this is a reflection of the Japanese tendency to ritualise and make great importance of many stages of life, or perhaps it is a tradition adopted from American education like many parts of modern Japanese culture. Whereas the culture of Europe and especially the British Isles is very non-chalant.
カナダ出身のMikeが、高校の時プロムがあって大学の時は盛大な卒業式があるよと教えてくれました。それ以外にも講師にいたずらをする日っていうのがあるみたいです。

卒業式に参列できるのは、一家族3名まででチケットを買わないといけないなど、やはり国によって違うんですね😄
