Hello students!
I hope you are having a great week!
I’ve been having a great time teaching and learning about you recently! I’ve especially enjoyed talking to you about your and my travels! Traveling is probably my favorite hobby, when I have the time to do it. I have been really surprised about some of the places you have been and experiences you have had. Learning about other places and cultures is a great way to expand your mind and gain a better understanding of other people.
I have been to many places as well, such as Hawai’i, Ukraine, New York, Canada, Thailand, England, Ireland, Germany, China, and the Bahamas, but China was by far my favorite experience. While living in China as a university instructor, I visited many cities and learned a lot. I was even given the opportunity to advise local English teachers with my students who were studying to be English teachers and give a motivational speech to elementary school students. That was a really great experience for me and my students who got to try teaching English for the first time with real students. I’d love to talk about it with you and interesting experiences you have had.
Over the past three and a half years, one of the most important things about teaching for me, whether it was in New York teaching elementary school students, in China teaching future English teachers, or here at NOVA teaching all of you, is helping students achieve their goals and increasing their confidence in speaking like my teachers did for me when I was learning Japanese, Russian, German, and Mandarin. I hope you can come join me at NOVA so we can work on your language skills together!
Make it a great week!
