I have a love hate relationship with Spring. Comfortable weather, strawberries, Golden Week, and my birthday are some of my favorite moments. Pollen, hay fever, and taxes are my downfall. Since moving to Japan, I have been busy trying to enjoy every shops seasonal menus for each season, but Spring is the best because of its pink theme.
In NYC, Central Park is very famous for its blooming cherry blossom trees in April and May.
There are many types there, such as Yoshino, Kwanzan, and my personal favorite Okame. When the trees are in full bloom, the park is enveloped in swirling petals of pink, white, and red making it the perfect time to take walks and enjoy nature in the middle of a loud and bustling city. One of my favorite memories is when I had a picnic with my friends in Central Park after our University exams. We had pizza, and I brought cut peaches from home, but I spilled the juice all over the picnic blanket.
To this day, my mother is upset about her white blanket that is now pale pink. Where are your favorite places to enjoy the cherry blossoms in Japan? I would love to hear your advice and best memories of Spring as we head into March.
