My Winter vacation was very fun and very different from the usual set of traditions back home.
I was surprised to see everything was open on Christmas Day so I could get some last minute gifts for the karaoke party I went to, in the UK usually everything is closed on Christmas, and the streets are dead silent.
For New Years Day my parents came to visit, it was nice to show them around Hiroshima and making them try many different foods and meet some of my friends and coworkers. They really enjoyed the conveyor belt sushi restaurants.
We celebrated New Years Day at Hiroshima Castle where I made a prayer at the shrine, it was so busy. Dad was excited to try the cheese 10 yen coins he had seen on the internet.
After that we spent some time on Miyajima, I took some nice photos in the snow and even reached the peak of Mt Misen for the first time. My parents even got to try some authentic Okonomiyaki in the town before we got the boat back.
