G’day my name is Megan and I’m from Australia.The seasons in Australia are opposite to that of Japan so we celebrate Christmas and New Years in Summer. We have lots of interesting wildlife in Australia that you can see in the country side such as kangaroos, possums, echidnas and wombats. In Australia I was a teacher for children from the age of 6 months to 6 years old, teaching them fundimental language and life skills. My hobbies include active, sewing, making, furniture, watching anime, reading books and hanging out with my cats. I really love traveling and exploring new places and learning about its history. You can come see me at Nova Hiroshima Eki Mae and Nova Higashi Hiroshima. I can help you with pronunciation and grammar.

Christmas in America is a magical time. It’s freezing cold outside but everyone is still happy. This is because Christmas in America is a national holiday. Much like Gold Week or Obon we get a long vacation to spend with our families. On December 24th many families wear matching Christmas pajamas and watch Christmas movies together. After dinner we bake fresh cookies, usually chocolate chip, and leave them out on the hearth for Santa Clause with a glass of milk. The evening news gives “updates” on which country Santa is in all night. December 25th is Christmas morning. Christmas breakfast is always the best, my family would make pancakes, eggs, and sausage balls. After breakfast, the whole family begins to gather. Siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, everyone is invited over for Christmas. Often we play board games and chat until dinner. Dinner time is the Christmas feast. We eat a lot of food, like ham, potatoes and casseroles. After dinner everyone gathers around the christmas tree to open presents. It’s such a fun holiday!
