I love going swimming in the summertime! It’s my favorite activity on a hot Japanese summer day. There are lots of cool places to swim around town, but I was surprised when I first came here to find that not many people swim off the beach—instead, many prefer swimming in the local rivers. In my home state of Florida, the #1 place to swim is the beach, so it was a bit of a shock at first. But now that I’ve lived here for a few years, I’ve come to really appreciate a cool river swim on a super hot day! I highly recommend it—especially with a packed lunch and some snacks!
