夏休みもスタート！
毎日暑い日が続きます。
南アフリカ出身のPatricia。
南アフリカの夏ってどんなんでしょ？
Summers in South Africa involve going to the beach and having a barbecue (we call it “braai” in South Africa). During summer, most of the people are either off from work as its the holiday season so there is a lot of excitement in the air. I used to go to the swimming pool instead of the beach as it was much closer to my home. Summer also involves lots of ice cream!

Patriciaにとっての日本の夏は・・・
Summer in Japan is very different for me. Since Japan is too humid in summer, I spend most of the time inside my apartment with the air-conditioner on when I have days off. Japans summer happens to be hotter than South Africa, which surprised me a lot, because it is more humid than dry. I really enjoy eating ice cream in the evenings. Last year, I enjoyed watching the Onmaku festival in Imabari. It started raining as soon as the fireworks started so I was really surprised, but it made the day even more memorable. There were lots of street foods such as fried chicken. I really enjoyed eating the strawberry shaved ice that was being sold in one of the shops. It was so tasty! This summer, I’m really looking forward to Onmaku again and watching all the different performances. I hope that it does not rain like last year and that the weather is cool.
