とても詳しくお話をしてくれました♬

Every four years we have a leap year.

A leap year is a year that has one more day.

The extra day is February 29th.

We add it to keep the grégorien calendar to keep in time with the seasons.

Each revolution of the earth around the sun takes approximately 365.2 days, but our calendar has only 365 days (you can’t have 0.2 of a day). To keep these in sync, we add the extra day every four years so that our seasons come at the same time each year.

Random fact:
My grandad was born on a leap year. He only counted February 29th as his birthday. When he was 80 years old legally, he would say he was 20. He said this because he had only lived through 20 leap years.
Since his birthday was on a day that didn’t exist every year, when it wasn’t a leap year he would celebrate at 00:00 (12 o’clock) on the 1st of March for his birthday.
