One of my favorite things to do in fall is to see the nighttime illuminations! Last year I went to Ishiyama Temple and I had such a great time seeing the beautiful fall leaves. The weather was a little chilly, but a little bit of hot green tea and some dango from one of the vendors near the temple entrance had me warmed up in no time.
We don’t have anything like night time illuminations for fall leaves in America. Many parks may have lights the keep the park lit up at night but Japan does this on a whole other level! There is almost a magic in the air and the atmosphere feels otherworldly!
This year I plan to go back to go back to Ishiyama temple but I also want to visit some other interesting fall illuminations in Japan. One new place I plan to go to is the Chioin Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
