本日は14th February, Valentine’s Dayですね🍫✨！
海外では男性が女性にプレゼントを贈るのが一般的な国が多いです。
そのため、私がオーストラリアにいた2年前のバレンタインデーの朝には
街の至る所に一輪の薔薇🌹や花束💐を持っている男性がいて
とても感動したのを覚えてます……💓💓
オーストラリアに住みたい！と思いました…（単純です笑）
そこで本日は！！呉駅前校のアメリカ出身講師、
Grant先生からアメリカのバレンタインデーと
日本のバレンタインデーについて聞いてみました！！😉♪
＊あえて日本語訳は載せずに、まずは皆様が
どれくらいご理解できたか、わからない単語やフレーズが
どれくらいあったかを発見して頂けたらと思います（・∀・）
”The custom of Valentine’s Day in Japan is an example of the many reasons I love this country.☺
Albeit the tradition between the two countries are virtually identical,
there is a simple yet fundamental difference; the roles are reversed.
In America, men are traditionally expected to do something extraordinary as an expression of their love for a woman, usually their woman.
Men most commonly buy chocolate and flowers,🍫💐
but also often use more creative tactics for impressing their women such as a scavenger hunt for clues to a present.
As mentioned above, in Japan the tradition is quite similar.
However the big difference is women do something nice for their men.
Having experienced both customs, it’s fair to say Valentine’s Day feels more egalitarian in Japan.
Moreover, it is difficult to articulate how much more appreciative it feels knowing she put extra effort into showing how important he is.
It is worth noting that celebrating Valentine’s Day is instilled in children at a young age in America.
In elementary and grade school, our teachers would have us randomly pull names of classmates.
We were then assigned to create a card for that classmate as homework.
On Valentine’s day we would then hand the card to that person and exchange candy.
You can imagine this makes for lasting memories.”
