Hello！My name is Justin！
Hometown: Melbourne
Seasonal tradition: Christmas is a very important time for Australians and the weather is perfect for a BBQ so on Christmas Australians will cook sausages, burgers and shrimp (which we call prawns) then eat them outside in the sun like a picnic in your back yard.
Custom from home: In my home of Australia we are well known for eating beef in whatever way we can, be it in the form of steaks, pies or sausages which we call “snaggs” but in the wilds of Australia there is a kind of food that most people would not like to try. Whichetty grubs are a type of wild food known by locals as “bush tukka” and they have been eaten for thousands of years. The small insects are called grubs because they turn into a beetle later in life, whereas something like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly and larvae turn into bees or flies. I remember my dad telling me that they taste like peanut butter but I’ve never been brave enough to try them.
Would you ever try some bush tukka? or is it too strange for your taste.
English tips: Learning something new like English is a very personal thing it’s not just about how much time you use but also how you use it, If something like listening and repeating isn’t working try somthing else like flash cards. any method that works for you is the correct methods.
