3月といえば卒業シーズン。
卒業生の皆様、おめでとうございます🎊
Ray from アメリカ、 Joni from イギリス と今治校講師陣にとっての卒業シーズンはもう少し先。
Rayに卒業シーズンについて聞いてみました！
少し長めですが、3連休中にチャレンジしましょ♪
Congratulations to all the graduating students this season! I’ve been hearing from many High school students about their graduation ceremonies recently. They’ve told me that the entire school goes to the ceremony and wears their school uniforms. This is pretty different to graduating in America. We only go to the ceremony if there are people we know graduating and even some students who are graduating choose not to go. In my school we wore our “Sunday Best” or business type clothes like suites and dresses. We also wear a special gown over our nice clothes and a special hat called a cap. Traditionally most schools wear black caps and gowns or everyone wears one of the school colors. At my high school our school colors were blue and white so all the girls wore white and all the boys wore blue and we sat on separate sides of the stage. I’ve learned that this is pretty unique for most schools in America. During my study abroad in Kyoto I got to see the beautiful clothes that many university graduates got to wear and the pictures looked amazing with all the cherry blossoms. University graduation is pretty similar to high school graduation in America. We also can earn special ropes that we call cords and ribbons called stoles to wear at the ceremony. I didn’t earn any in high school, but when I graduated university I had 3 stoles and 6 cords! Some are for good grades, attendance, clubs, and many other things.

”Sunday Best”もちょっと古き良き感じ。
それよりも、卒業式参加が本人の意思次第ってところにちょっとびっくり。
