Hello everyone! This is Daniel from the Ibaraki branch. I hope you are all enjoying the cool winter weather.

This Saturday is Valentine’s Day. It’s a day when many people celebrate love. In Japan, girls and women give chocolate or sweets to their “Valentine”. On the other hand, boys and men give gifts to their sweetheart on White Day, March 14th. In the US, we don’t have two separate holidays. Both men and women exchange gifts on the same day.

Valentine’s Day is a very old holiday, as far back as the 5th century. It is celebrated all over the world. Common gifts are chocolate, flowers, and cards. What do you think is a good idea for a Valentine’s Day or a White Day gift? Let me know next time you see me in Ibaraki.
