だんだんと涼しい風が感じられ、秋らしくなってきましたね！
秋と言えば食べ物がおいしい季節ですよね👀
大人気講師のChrisが食欲の秋にちなんで
趣味でもあるお菓子作りのレシピをシェアしてくれました。
Ooh, I got big fat chestnuts from Ibaraki! A real treat! Chestnut rice is a solid classic, but I love that my mind’s drifting to dessert—let’s indulge in the autumnal vibe and happily getting fat! 😄 I’m thinking of something sweet to make with those chestnuts. Here’s a quick dive into a decadent chestnut dessert idea, plus some thoughts to spark your creativity.
Chestnut Dessert Idea: Chestnut Cake
This chestnut cake is a dreamy, creamy dessert that screams autumn with its rich chestnut flavor. It’s basically a mountain of chestnut puree piled on a sweet base. Here’s a simple version to try with Ibaraki chestnuts:
Quick Chestnut Cake Recipe
Ingredients (for ~4 servings):
Prep the Chestnuts: If using fresh chestnuts, score an “X” on the flat side, boil for 20 minutes, then peel off the shell and inner skin. (Pro tip: Ibaraki chestnuts are often sweet, so taste one to gauge sugar needs!)
Put 4 egg whites in a bowl
Add 75g white sugar mix with a hand mixer until fluffy and foamy
In another bowl, add 4 egg yolks
Add 75g white sugar mix with a hand mixer until creamy
then Add 100ml vegetable oil
Add 100ml milk
mix with hand mixer until blended
Add 200-250g of cooked and peeled chestnuts into a food processor and process until breadcrumb consistency
Add Chestnut crumbs to the bowl of egg yolks
Add 100g of all-purpose flour
Add 2 teaspoons of baking powder and mix with hand mixer until incorporated.
Add a spoon of the egg white mix to the egg yolk, chestnut mix and stir in with a spatula
continue this process until all the egg white foam mix is incorporated.
Prepare a 20-24cm cake pan, with a circle of baking paper on the bottom. Spoon in the mixture
and bake in the oven on the middle shelf at 180/C for 40 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool.
Dust with powdered sugar or sprinkle crushed chestnuts for crunch. Serve immediately and revel in the autumn decadence!

Sports in Australia
Sports are a strong component of Australia’s national identity. Whether it is supporting their favorite team on television, going to the stadium, or participating in their leisure time, Australians are rather obsessed with sports. Some international sports such as soccer and basketball enjoy a great deal of popularity in Australia, but there are other sports that are more iconic and central to the Australian experience.
Rugby League is the most popular sport in New South Wales and Queensland, and their respective capitals of Sydney and Brisbane. It is a variant of Rugby Union, the sport that most people think of when they hear the word “rugby”. Rugby League has thirteen players on the field rather than Union’s fifteen, there is less emphasis on kicking, and teams cannot hold onto possession indefinitely. Some would say it is simpler and more free-flowing than Union. The annual State of Origin series between New South Wales and Queensland-born players is typically the most watched TV event of the year in Australia.
Cricket is the traditional summer sport of Australia. It shares some similarities with baseball, a sport that is not widely watched in Australia. In cricket, the bowler (similar to a pitcher) must deliver the ball by bouncing it towards the batter, who will try to hit it. Players can score by running from one end of the “wicket” to the other, or by hitting it far over the boundary line (like a home run). The bi-annual Ashes Series against England is considered one of the most important events in the Australian sporting calendar. It is a common sight to see families palying their own small game of backyard or beach cricket on hot, summer days.
Surfing is an iconic Australian pastime. The vast majority of Australians live in close proximity to the beach, so it is common for Aussies to spend much of their childhood swimming in the ocean. This has made Australia quite the powerhouse in the world of Olympic swimming, but also rather adept surfers. Australia boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, from Bondi Beach to Bells Beach, and many in between. In addition to being a fun way to enjoy the summer, Australia is the home of many professional surfing events, attracting top talent from all over the world.

Halloween
When I was a kid I always loved to go trick-or-treating. My friends and I would get together in a group of 10 or so kids and walk around the neighborhood together. At the end of the night we’d all go back to one person’s house and trade candy until everybody had their favorites. I really liked the sour and gummy candies, and my best friend liked the chocolates, so we would trade for each other’s respective favorite candy before going home for the night.

まずはよくある間違いから見てみましょう👀✨
よくある間違い
→How many members should I invite?
この表現がなぜ間違っているかわかりますか？？
実は、Memberは「個人、組織、または国家」を意味します。
例えば、ゴルフ場の会員や国連の加盟国を言うときなどに使います。
例文では、パーティーなどに招待する客のことを話題にしているのでmember は使えません×
guestは普通「（招待された）客」を意味し、「自宅に招いた客」「ホテルやレストランなどにとっての客を指すということっも覚えておくととても便利です♪

→How many guests should I invite?

〈和訳〉
私は動物を保護するのが大好きです。オタワで育ちましたが、市内には田園地帯も広がっています。家の周りには畑がたくさんあり、家族で長年にわたりたくさんの野良猫に出会いました。もし可能であれば、引き取って暖かい家で暮らせるようにしています。
今は6匹の猫を一緒に暮らしていますが、これまでに保護した猫は全部で11匹です。犬も大好きなので、保護施設から引き取ることもよくあります。ブランディという名前のジャーマンシェパードとゴールデンレトリバーのミックス犬を飼っています。
家は広いので、動物たちは裏庭や野原、敷地周辺の森で遊び回っています。たくさんの野生動物にも出会えます。七面鳥、コヨーテ（オオカミに似た動物）、そして家の裏にはアメリカクロクマもいます。いつも近くに動物がいるんです。
ワンちゃん・ネコちゃん好きにはたまらないですね💛
お家やと土地が広く、動物たちも長閑に暮らせそうですね！
