Bed rotting and Other Hobbies
As winter approaches, it’s natural to just want to stay inside, wear comfy pants and be warm and cozy. Working from home and the convenience of technology makes it easier than ever to set up on the couch for days. However, screens and distractions can make actual resting harder than ever before.
So, what to do? Have you heard of bed rotting? It’s a new term for an old pleasure — resting — in a plugged in and anxious world. Go to a quiet space, switch off all screens, and don’t use your brain! Embrace doing nothing with no guilt about looking busy. Bed rotting can be a year-round activity, but the colder months are made for it. If it’s too quiet and that makes you a bit anxious, put on some relaxing music or sip some tea.
Periods of boredom are not always a bad thing, and always being around screens and people can be exhausting. Bed rotting acknowledges that our thoughts are enough, and it may be the perfect new hobby.
