The peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a household staple in America. It’s the ultimate lunch sandwich. It’s perfect harmony of sweet and savory. My mom used to cut my sandwich into heart shapes before packing it, and it made other kids gasp in awe. Now, keep in mind, I am talking about jelly, not jam. The sweet, smooth jelly made from fruit juice. My personal preference was grape jelly, but strawberry jelly is also very popular in America. Grape jelly and smooth peanut butter, or chunky if you like, are spread on one slice of bread each. Mush those two halves together, and you have a classic American lunch. Add in an apple sauce cup and some potato chips, then put it all in a brown paper bag for the full experience.
Of course, this isn’t the only possible sandwich with peanut butter. Plain peanut butter sandwiches are also very popular. Peanut butter and potato chips are something you might never have imagined, but it’s delicious! But another favorite of mine is the peanut butter and banana sandwich. I have a favorite method that I’d like to share with you, too. Pick up some of that expensive (creamy) peanut butter, a banana, bread, and maybe some chocolate chips (not potato chips, chocolate chips for baking!) as well. You should only need a butter knife (peanut butter is very thick) but a waffle maker could be useful as well.
