Christmas time in the US is one of the busiest times of the year. A lot of Americans must prepare for many different important things.
アメリカのクリスマスは1年で最も忙しい時期のひとつである。多くのアメリカ人がさまざまな重要なことを準備しなければならない。
First off, let’s take a look at Christmas shopping. There is certainly a lot of pressure on parents to get the newest toys and gadgets for their children, so shopping centers are packed during December. You can even find gift wrappers in shopping centers for those who need help preparing presents. Parents also bring their children out to shopping centers too, because it is often possible to visit Santa at them as well. There are usually a lot of Christmas decorations set up at these shopping centers too. I often like to walk through places like shopping malls, just to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere. I find Christmas music nice to listen to throughout the many different stores.
まずはクリスマス商戦について。子供たちのために最新のおもちゃやガジェットを手に入れなければならないという親たちのプレッシャーは大きく、12月のショッピングセンターは大混雑となる。ショッピングセンターには、プレゼントの準備を手伝ってほしい人のために、プレゼントの包装をする人もいる。また、ショッピングセンターではサンタに会えることも多いので、親も子供を連れて出かけます。ショッピングセンターには、クリスマスの飾り付けもたくさんある。私はクリスマスの雰囲気を味わうために、ショッピングセンターのような場所を歩くのが好きだ。いろいろなお店の中で聴くクリスマス音楽もいいものです。
Aside from the Christmas shopping, a lot of Americans prepare their houses for Christmas. For example, you might see houses with a few simple Christmas decorations and houses with very extravagant Christmas decorations. Some familys like to drive or walk through neighborhoods, like my family, because there are so many interesting things to see. I oftened liked the houses with many colorful lights when I was a kid.
クリスマス・ショッピングもさることながら、多くのアメリカ人はクリスマスのために家で準備する。例えば、簡単なクリスマスの飾り付けの家もあれば、とても豪華なクリスマスの飾り付けをしている家もある。私の家族のように、近所をドライブしたり歩いたりするのが好きな家族もいる。私は子供の頃、色とりどりの電飾が施された家が好きだった。
Additionally, a lot of Americans often prepare to watch TV Christmas specials or Christmas movies. It can be a tradition for American families to sit down in front of a screen and enjoy something nostalgic or something new.
さらに、多くのアメリカ人はテレビのクリスマス特番やクリスマス映画を見ました。スクリーンの前に座って、懐かしいものや新しいものを楽しむのは、アメリカの家族にとって伝統的なことです。
