I hope you’re enjoying the start of autumn, my favorite season!
November is one of the few times in the year we can see fireworks in the British Isles – the sky is still bright until around 10PM in the summer, so we can only have fireworks in colder months with shorter days.
On the 5th of November people celebrate Bonfire Night (also called Guy Fawkes Night and Fireworks Night). Large fires are made and fireworks are sent into the sky to celebrate the failure of a plot to assassinate the king in 1605. Normally, the only time we can see fireworks is on this day and New Year’s Eve.
In Japan, people associate fireworks with feeling hot at summer festivals, but for British people it’s the opposite!
