Our other plan outside of Thailand is to take a trip down to Pattaya. This beach resort town is most well-known for its lively nightlife but unknown to most visitors are the sightseeing spots and floating markets. In recent years the local government has attempted to rejuvenate the area to make it more appealing to families and therefore have refilled in the beach with imported sand and cleaned up the seaside areas. Pattaya is still mostly a draw for tourists looking to have a good time in the bars and clubs that litter the more popular streets but I am sure the town will also offer other more relaxed pursuits. As Bangkok is a noisy, non-stop city, a couple of days outside of the city will be sure to offer a welcome relief.
