My name Layton. I’m from Iowa, USA.

Iowa is a pretty rural place. I’m from a city, but most of what is around my city is corn fields and small towns. It can be a pretty relaxing place to live.

I actually went to university for graphic design, and I worked in that field and marketing for a little while after graduating. After, I started working in customer service during COVID-19 lockdowns, and decided to start taking classes to become an English teacher. I spent some time tutoring immigrants in English back home before taking a teaching position with Nova.

I came to Japan in November 2022. The main reasons I can here are for the food and the trains. I love how easy it is to get around in Japan, even with my limited Japanese ability (but I want to improve my Japanese). And I love the diversity of food available here.

Food is one of my hobbies. I enjoy cooking, but don’t cook for myself as often as I used to. I love getting recommendations for restaurants or cafes to try, and enjoy learning about regionally famous foods in different parts of Japan as well.

I also like watching movies and reading books. I’m always looking for a new show to watch as well, so any recommendation is appreciated.
