What do you know about Akita Kanto Festival ? 🏮
本日は【秋田竿灯祭り】をご紹介😊
🌟The Akita Kanto Festival is said to have started in the Edo period.
始まりは江戸時代といわれている「秋田竿燈（かんとう）まつり」。
It is said to be based on the “Neburi nagashi event” that was originally held in Akita and was held to ward off evils such as poor harvests and summer illnesses.
もともと秋田で行われていた、五穀豊穣や夏の病魔、邪気を払うために行われる「ねぶり流し行事」が原型とされています。
Neburi nagashi is an event where people write their wishes on strips of paper and throw them into the river to ward off evil spirits.
ねぶり流しとは、願い事を書いた短冊を川に流すことで邪気を払う行事のこと。
It developed independently and became the Kanto Festival.
それが独自に発展し竿燈まつりとなりました。
🌟The Kanto Festival is characterized by the craftsmanship that excites the audience above all else.
竿燈まつりは何よりも職人芸で観衆を熱狂させるのが特徴です。
During the night kanto festival, 280 kanto lights line the main street.
夜竿燈では、灯りをともした280本もの竿燈が大通りに勢ぞろい。
Amidst the chants of “Dokkoisho, Dokkoisho,” the sashite freely manipulates the large kanto lanterns onto their palms, foreheads, shoulders, and waist.
「ドッコイショー、ドッコイショー」の掛け声が響くなか、差し手たちは大きな竿燈を手のひら、額、肩、腰へと自在に操ります。
The gift of balance and daily training is on display for all to see.
鍛えてきたバランス感覚や日々の訓練の賜物。
After finishing the night kanto, you can see the “modori kanto” in each town.
夜竿燈を終えた後は、各町内で「もどり竿燈」を見ることができます。
The midsummer night is alive with the lingering sounds of the music and the afterglow of the festival.
名残惜しいお囃子の音色とまつりの余韻とともに、真夏の夜はふけていきます。
