One of my favorite hobbies is visiting and learning about shrines, temples, and traditinoal Japanese gardens. I love Japanese history, and visiting those types of places makes me feel a connection with that history. It really makes the stories I have read feel more tangible, and the pictures I have seen come to life.
The most recent place I traveled was to Sankei-en in Yokohama. It was absolutely incredible. The garden is filled with the amazing buildings, and the surrounding nature is truly breathtaking. The Muromachi and Edo period architecture was absolutely incredible.
I have lived in Japan for only six months, so I still have much to learn about this country, and many places in it to still explore. I am excited to visit other places like Sankei-en, like Nikko, Nara, Kyoto, and others. Visiting Sankei-en filled me with such feelings of tranquility and contentment that I can’t wait to feel that again. For anyone who hasn’t visited Sankei-en yet, I highly recommend it!
