Hi, my name is Sterling, and I am from Vancouver, Canada.
One of the big differences between Japan and Canada is the school system. Did you know that the school year starts at the beginning of September and finishes at the end of June? If you go to school in Canada, you can get two months summer holiday. It means students get a long break before starting the next grade. How does that sound? Many education professionals believe it’s good for students to get time to relax and recharge between grades.
Next, let’s talk about your summer holiday activities as a student. How did you spend your last week of your summer holiday? Maybe you spent lots of time trying to complete your homework assignments, right? If you hated summer homework, I imagine Canada would’ve been better for you. We don’t usually have summer homework, or at least very little homework. Can you guess why? Because the purpose of a summer holiday for children is supposed to be to relax and enjoy life.
