こどもの日🎏などを思い浮かびますよね？👀
アメリカでも5月にMemorial Dayというイベントがあるそうです❣
どんなイベントなのか見ていきましょう👇
Memorial Day is a national holiday in America
that is celebrated on the last Monday of May.
It marks the transition from spring to summer.
The holiday celebrates the service of members of the military that have died.
It began in various forms during the time before the civil war,
when America was a very divided nation.
It was originally referred to by many as “Decoration Day”
but was changed to its current name after the conclusion of
the civil war and the unification of the country.
Today, the government makes many events in the capital to remember our military heroes.
Most people also celebrate by having barbecues and doing other summer activities
(like going to the beach, boating, fishing, pool parties, etc.)
for the first time in the year.
There are also many sales in retail stores and online shops for summer products.
Because it is always observed on a Monday, it is a great 3-day weekend
for many people to celebrate the start of summer.
